This your American Idol. You okay with that?

This your American Idol. You okay with that?

American Idol: Has there been a bigger upset in Idol history?  We think not.  And we totally blame all the pre-finale hoopla around Adam  Lambert for his loss.  The hype totally backfired on him!

Kanye West: Used his blog to declare “Justin is the new Mike, Beyonce’s the new Tina Turner [and] GaGa’s Madonna.”  Kind of little soon to be making grand statements like that, no?  Then again, this is Kanye West so…

Pete Wentz: Peeved at Gawker for including him, Ashlee Simpson and son Bronx, in their Stalker column.  The result?  “Hate mail” sent to Gawker on his behalf gives them another opportunity to make fun of him.  Good work, Pete.  But we suppose this tweet was Pete’s way of firing back again.  To be continued?

Natalie Cole: The singer, who suffers from hepatitis C, had a kidney transplant this week.  What would we do without organ donors?

Kelly Rutherford: Apparently hiring private investigators to watch your husband doesn’t just happen in the movies.  If you’re Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford, it’s just one more twist in your divorce drama.

Twitter: E! Online is planning to incorporate tweets into its scroll at the bottom of all programming.  Is it fair to say now that Twitter has gone mainstream?

SIZZLED OUT: Privileged

STILL SIZZLING: The artist who voiced this iconic animal character passed away this week. Guess the Magic Kingdom will be in mourning for a while…

Are you all aboard?

Are you all aboard?

Madonna: Had a little horse riding accident this weekend thanks to none other than the fabulous paparazzi.  Guess no lesson’s been learned from Princess Diana’s tragic death.

Ellen Pompeo: Grey’s Anatomy fans rejoice!  Maybe.  Pompeo is preggers with her first child.  Who knows–maybe Meredith and Derek will have a little one, too!

Rosie O’Donnell: Just the latest person to hop on the Susan Boyle trainSays Ro of Boyle’s Britain’s Got Talent performance: “It was a perfect moment.”

SAG: Could it be?  An actors’ strike averted?  That’s the word coming from Screen Actors Guild and union sources.  But the contract still needs to be approved.

Jossip: And another potential place of employment bites the dust.  Though the site iself is claiming this is just a “pause.”  Sigh.

Jezebel: Made a list–videos included–of the “cheesiest” TV openers.  Not gonna lie: we kind of love it.

Bill Clinton: Had the privilege of seeing the former president up-close-and-personal for the very first time and, sadly, he is definitely getting older!

SIZZLED OUT: My Sister’s Keeper

STILL SIZZLING: This romantic comedy hunk says he’s in no rush to marry, even though he already has a mini-me with his model girlfriend.

She has greatest hits, but some forgettable looks!

She has greatest hits, but some forgettable looks!

Rihanna: One of the columnists at Entertainment Weekly wrote a great column on how people are mistaken for thinking Rihanna is a role model.  Memo to the world: being a pop singer doesn’t make you qualified to set examples for kids!

American Idol: Rumor has it that the producers already “picked” the final four.  The show’s response?  “No comment.”  Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve been accused of rigging the voting.  Definitely won’t be the last.

DWTS: There’s a ton of so-called professional post-show bloggers out there, but for an inside source, check out judge Bruno Tonioli’s over at The Daily Beast.

Madonna: Working on a greatest hits album to be released in the fall.  Will likely include new songs as well.  Does this woman ever stop?!

Natasha Richardson: With so many conflicting stories out there, we’re not going to link to anything.  Some say she’s brain dead.  Others say she was talking fine after the accident.  Let’s stop speculating and just wait for an official comment!

Facebook: As hardcore Twitter users (follow us at @sizzlemaker!), we simultaneously annoyed and pleased by Facebook’s recent changes.  Most people, it seems, are just upset because they can be.  No one likes change, do they?

SIZZLED OUT: SciFi (becoming SyFy)

STILL SIZZLING: This late actor, best known for his filmwork, directed two soon-to-be-released music videos before his unexpected death.

Cover of Miley's "tell-all"

Cover of Miley's "tell-all"

Britney: Would you still go to her concert if you knew she was lip-synching the entire time?  ‘Cause, um, she is!

Miley Cyrus: In her new autobiography, she refers to ex-Nick Jonas only as Prince Charming.  Gotta love the mind of a 16-year-old!

American Idol: Not sure how we feel about voting for someone called Lil Rounds.  Are we just being name-ist?

HSM: Since no one from the original cast is likely to appear in the fourth film, MTV put together a “What’s Next” list for Zac and the gang.

Glamour: Has a very creative photo gallery of current celebs impersonating pop culture icons, including Madonna, Audrey Hepburn and even Michelle Obama.

SATC: The Daily Beast puts a hilarious spin on Sex and the City, given today’s recession-plagued society.  It is a fair question, though, to wonder if people will still want to view their excess in light of our current reality.

No Doubt: Offering their fans digital copies of every one of their songs with purchase of concert tickets for their upcoming tour.  Not a bad deal given the aforementioned recession.

Facebook: The planned new features look very Twitter-like.  Amping up the competition, eh?

SIZZLED OUT: Two and a Half Men

STILL SIZZLING: This talk show host will give people a different view of her life if her autobiographical sitcom is made into a full series.

Want to see the Material Girl's material?

Want to see the Material Girl's material?

Rihanna: The whole Chris Brown debacle got her the cover of this week’s PEOPLE.  Tired of reading speculative stories, though.  Really just want the truth from them!

Rihanna Pt. 2: Speaking of truthful, no idea if this photo is real but it left us speechless.

Madonna: More than 300 of her personal possessions will be on display in London for the next month.  We’d say so much for privacy but she gave that up long ago.

MTV.com: Suggests 1999 was the “best” year for movies.  That is one helluva broad statement!

Oscars: Come back on Sunday evening for our live-blogging of the Academy Awards!

SIZZLED OUT: Bob Barker (The Price Is Right)

STILL SIZZLING: This rapper wants to leave his country grammar behind and host his own variety show in Las Vegas.

Asking for trouble!

Asking for trouble!

Chris Brown: Some radio stations are refusing to play his (arguably) hit songs, part of the backlash for his alleged assault on (as far as we’re concerned) alleged victim, Rihanna.  Is it fair for the stations do this?  We think not.  Innocent until proven guilty!  Everyone’s just running on gossip right now.

Jennifer Aniston: In honor of her 40th birthday (which was yesterday), PEOPLE put together an on-line gallery of their magazine covers that featured her.  Most interesting: all the ones that feature her and Brad!

Jennifer Aniston, Pt. 2: The Daily Beast does its own tribute with a look at all the love lessons poor Jen should’ve learned from her movies!

A-Rod: In an article on how to save his reputation, The Daily Beast suggests staying away from Madonna.  We probably could’ve told him that!

Bruce Springsteen: Took to his blog to write a very lengthy post about his Superbowl experiences, including his now infamous crotch slam.  Not that we needed to be reminded of it.

ACMs: Nominations for the Academy of Country Music awards were revealed yesterday, with Carrie Underwood as the only female up for entertainer of the year.  Really, no other woman was worthy of consideration?!

Pushing Daisies: If you miss the underappreciated and prematurely canceled show, you can now catch it on TheWB.com!

Sirius XM: Not even a year since the satellite radio companies merged, and the conglomerate is already facing trouble.  The New York Times reports that the company will likely file for bankruptcy, and might lose big-name stars like Howard Stern and Martha Stewart.

Ticketmaster: Planning a merger of its own, with LiveNation.  But for it to actually happen, the companies have to prove they’re not breaking any anti-trust laws.

Digital T V: If you thought you caught a break when Congress approved a delay in the switch from analog signals, you may have been mistaken.  Almost 500 stations are still planning to make the change prior to the extended deadline.  Good luck everyone!

SIZZLED OUT: Will Smith

STILL SIZZLING: This singer-actress recently got back together with her musician boyfriend–and now they’re engaged!  Guess she has a crush on him still!

We could've been sisters!

We could've been sisters!

Britney: Apparently those restraining orders come with a price.  Sam Lutfi is suing Brit Brit for defamation.  Wonder if the court will rule him a public figure?

Miley Cyrus: They’ve both dated a Jonas Brother (more on them below!) and now they’ll have something else in common: Grammy performances.  Cyrus will duet with Taylor Swift on this Sunday’s show.

Obama: The Sasha and Malia dolls are being renamed Sydney and Mariah.  Obama wins again!

Twitter: Ashton Kutcher is peeved that media outlets are taking some of his Tweets and misrepresenting him.  Or so he says on his blog.  Which he took to because “140 characters works for some things. Sometimes you need more space.”

TV: The Los Angeles Times is reporting that a new study shows watching TV can lead to depression.  That’s funny, because TV is what keeps us out of it!

HBO: In yet another example of art imitating life, the cable network is developing a new series that will explore the current finanial crisis.  Are they sure spending money on this series is a wise idea given the crisis in the first place?!

Gawker: With newspapers failing and even online sites suffering, Gawker asks: would people rather pay to read the current level of NYT journalism, or have it go away? Not an easy question when you love The New York Times but can’t afford to “waste” money like that.

Gawker Pt. 2: They also put up a hilarious poll asking which Jo Bro you’d lay off.  We know, we know…all of them!

SIZZLED OUT: Justin Timberlake (Jessica Biel)

STILL SIZZLING: Though rarely seen in public, this actress–and close Madonna friend–is denying she, too, is having marriage troubles with her own Brit.

this totally turns us on!

We admit it: this totally turns us on!

Tom Cruise: Admits he was “arrogant” in his infamous Matt Lauer interview.  We forgave him a long time ago, but we know we’re in the minority.

Madonna: Will pay Guy Ritchie between $72 and $96 million.  Well, which is it?  There’s a big difference between the two!

OTH: Hmmmm.  Supposedly even with a Melrose remake, One Tree Hill could get a seventh season–with Schwahn!  We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Gossip Girl: The book series’ author hates the way the show depicts Aaron, Serena’s new beau.  Considering he gives us the creeps, we completely agree!

Prison Break: We watch and we watch and we’re still confused. Totally frustrating.

Rachael Ray: If you looked forward to the chatterbox having no voice for several weeks, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.  Surgery has been called off for now, as a new treatment for her sore vocal chords seems to be working.

The Crow: One of our favorite cult movies is being remade!  But we really can’t see anyone but the late Brandon Lee playing the lead!  Lee was killed during film when a real bullet accidentally dislodged from a prop gun.  So sad.

The Office: Here’s one more reason to watch the post-Superbowl episode: Jack Black will be on it!

Facebook: Decreased in value by more than $15 billion!  What do you think it’s worth?

SIZZLED OUT: Terminator

STILL SIZZLING: This athlete was just kicked off his team–more fallout from trash-talking a rival and former actress-girlfriend.

If Madonna's not dating him, we will!

If Madonna's not dating him, we will!

A-Rod: Just “friends” with Madonna, he says. “That’s it.” Guess we have to believe him.

O.J. Simpson: Sentenced to at least 15 years in jail for armed robbery. Long overdue, some will surely say.

Johnny Depp: Says being a celebrity is “mortifying.” We have no sympathy.

Oprah: The most powerful woman in entertainment, says The Hollywood Reporter. We’ll get on board with that.

Priviledged: Guess sweeps stunts aren’t over at The CW. They just scheduled Pete Wentz to guest star. Is there anything that guy doesn’t do?

Gossip Girl: Spin-off buzz is building again. We’ll believe when we see it.

Gossip Girl Pt. 2: Legit Facebook profiles of the cast?

Pepsi: Receiving major flack for suicide-themed ads in Germany. We’d like to meet the person that thought they would be a good idea.

Trailers: We’re not the only ones who like them more than movies themselves!

Rush & Malloy: One of the most famous gossip columns is going from daily to weekly. Another sign of the times?

Mollywood: The gossip blog is shutting down. Jossip will try to fill the void.

MySpace: When one door closes, another opens. Launching its own gossip site, DailyFill though their label won’t be anywhere on it. Beneficial?

Gawker: Has a pretty fair response to EW’s 25 Smarted People in TV list.

Newsday: Another job opportunity gone. Our hometown paper is laying off 100 staffers. Happy Friday!

Media Ink: Filled with more bad news.

Nielsen: Think they suck? Here’s your chance to tell them. Please don’t waste it!

November 20, 2008 Pt. 2

Oh, Brandon, you're too pretty to be angry!

Oh, Brandon, you're too pretty to be angry!

Madonna: Reportedly reached a settlement with soon-to-be ex-husband Guy Ritchie.  How many of you are disappointed there won’t be a long, drawn-out court fight?

90210: No new episodes until January.  We think this is a good thing.  Buddy TV just wrote a pretty fair assessment of the first half of the season, though we probably would’ve been a bit harsher.

90210 Pt. 2: Up for Favorite New Television Drama at the People’s Choice Awards.  Absurd.  Totally absurd.  See above.

DWTS: When Julianne Hough was eliminated the other night, we had no idea it would be her last time on the show, like, ever!  She says she doesn’t plan on returning next season, and singing will be her primary focus.  Blasphemous!

Salon: Named Robert Downey Jr. the Sexiest Man Living.  Blatant rip-off of PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive.

Wall-E: Quite possibly more popular with adults than kids.  Considering the film went over even our heads a little, we can believe that.

The Killers: What happens when you misquote one of their lyrics?  Brandon Flowers gets very, very angry.

PC Magazine: Will be on-line only in the future.  On the one hand, this makes complete sense for a mag all about computers.  On the other hand, it’s just more bad news for the industry.

Rosie O’Donnell: Promises controversy-free fun on next week’s Rosie Live.  “The job description here is to entertain. … It will be an hour of fun, laughter, singing and dancing,” she said.  We wish we were in the audience!

The View: In response to another part of the above interview, where Rosie reflects on her frustrating times at The View, Babs said today (on-air) that Rosie needs to move on with her life.  She kinda is, though, no?  It’s not Ro’s fault the interviewers keep asking her questions that rehash old shit!
