Is he the next American Idol?

Is he the next American Idol?

American Idol: He hasn’t even won–yet–and already Adam Lambert has his first solo magazine cover story.  Entertainment Weekly gave him the honor, apparently in part because of his ambiguous sexuality.

American Idol Pt. 2: Did you know this is the first time the final 3 contestants were all male?  We had no idea!

Paula Abdul: This is probably the first time we’ve ever seen Ladies Home Journal accused of fabrication but the Idol judge is doing it and doing it strongly.  Just days after the magazine released a cover story where Abdul admits to a past drug addiction, the singer is claiming she never said–or had–any such thing.  Well, someone’s lying…

Susan Boyle: You know you’ve really made it big when you appear on Oprah.  And Boyle will do just that…sort of.  She’ll appear via Oprah’s favorite new thing, Skype.

Prison Break: With only a week left til the series finale, Fox’s latest promo product left critics stumped: a bar of soap.  But The Advocate and GLAAD think they’ve figured out the insinuation–prison rape–and they’re not happy about it.

ABC: Debuted its new “music lounge” yesterday, a radio-like offering with songs that are heard on shows like Grey’s Anatomy. Sounds like a smaller version of iTunes to us.

SIZZLED OUT: A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez by Serena Roberts

STILL SIZZLING: This R & B singer is just the latest celebrity to have nude photos hit the web–but while she calls the act of stealing private things “evil,” she says she’s not bothered by the exposure.

I still matter!

I still matter!

Entertainment Weekly: Amidst more internal staff changes, Time Inc. claims the magazine will continue to publish.  Wonder if they had any fingers crossed when they gave that quote…

Susan Boyle: This may seem very mean but just remember we didn’t suggest it first!  PEOPLE is doing a poll on who should play Boyle in a biopic and Robin Williams is one of the options.  We do see a resemblance, not gonna lie.

Hulu: Partnering with Disney to show ABC and other affiliated shows like Lost and Grey’s Anatomy.  Your turn, YouTube.

John McCain: What we can only guess is an attempt to remain as relevant as his former running mate, Sarah Palin, the one-time presidential candidate will be host of a war-themed movie marathon on AMC.  Fail.

The Daily Beast: Put together a photo gallery of face masks inspired by the swine flu.  Some are pretty funny.  would love to see more!

SIZZLED OUT: Tyra Banks

STILL SIZZLING: This celeb hopes she won’t be judged for falling for a prank by Sacha Baron Cohen in the upcoming film, Bruno.

Are you all aboard?

Are you all aboard?

Madonna: Had a little horse riding accident this weekend thanks to none other than the fabulous paparazzi.  Guess no lesson’s been learned from Princess Diana’s tragic death.

Ellen Pompeo: Grey’s Anatomy fans rejoice!  Maybe.  Pompeo is preggers with her first child.  Who knows–maybe Meredith and Derek will have a little one, too!

Rosie O’Donnell: Just the latest person to hop on the Susan Boyle trainSays Ro of Boyle’s Britain’s Got Talent performance: “It was a perfect moment.”

SAG: Could it be?  An actors’ strike averted?  That’s the word coming from Screen Actors Guild and union sources.  But the contract still needs to be approved.

Jossip: And another potential place of employment bites the dust.  Though the site iself is claiming this is just a “pause.”  Sigh.

Jezebel: Made a list–videos included–of the “cheesiest” TV openers.  Not gonna lie: we kind of love it.

Bill Clinton: Had the privilege of seeing the former president up-close-and-personal for the very first time and, sadly, he is definitely getting older!

SIZZLED OUT: My Sister’s Keeper

STILL SIZZLING: This romantic comedy hunk says he’s in no rush to marry, even though he already has a mini-me with his model girlfriend.

kanye-west-birthday-party-rihanna

Kanye with his "baby sis"

Rihanna: Most publications are reporting, based on “sources,” that she was indeed the victim of Chris Brown’s alleged assault.  (The first to name her, perhaps unethically, was the Los Angeles Times.)  As such, PEOPLE has an article on Kanye West’s concern for Rihanna: he’s “devastated” and would do “any and everything to help her.”  He also says he thinks RiRi could be “the greatest artist of all time.”  That’s a little much, Kanye.  You can stop now.

Obama: The Mrs. will be only the second First Lady in history to be featured on the cover of Vogue.  The first: Hillary Clinton.  We would’ve guessed Jackie O!

Obama Pt. 2: Gave the Huffington Post the honor of being the first online publication to be called upon in a White House news conference.  Will SIZZLE be next?  (Hey, we can dream, can’t we?!)

Grey’s Anatomy: Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are as good as gone.  Apparently it’s just a matter of “when.”

Adam Sandler: If this doesn’t mean hilarity, we don’t know what does.  Sandler will star alongside Chris Rock, Kevin James, Rob Schneider and David Spade in a yet-to-be-titled movie.  It’s gotta be funny, right?

Queen Latifah: Not best known for her singing but the girl does have a voice. She’ll prove it later this month when shes sings  the classic “I’ll Be Seeing You” at the Oscars.

Future TV: A new report argues that, in the future, we’ll have the capability of watching TV through contact lenses.  Tattoos that allow us to feel the character’s emotions may also be possible. Sounds bizarre.  And incredibly intriguing!

My Network TV: In its own futuristic move, network is planning to stop being, well, a network.  Instead it will just have two hours of syndicated programming each week night.  The rest will likely be paid programing a la infomercials.  As long as it includes ShamWow, we’re in!

Sports Illustrated: If the cover model (Bar Refaeli) for the Swimsuit issue is going to pull her bottoms down, couldn’t they at least make sure she didn’t have any tan lines? Or is that supposed to be hot or something?

Celeb Mags: No wonder we can’t get hired!  The grocery line staples are suffering from major losses right now.  Not that we didn’t already know that.  And not that we wanted to work for tabloids, anyway.  PEOPLE (our dream job!) was the only mag to grow!!!!

SIZZLED OUT: Nick Cannon (Mariah Carey)

STILL SIZZLING: A first-time survey by Forbes ranked this actor, known for his sitcom and movie blockbusters, as “Hollywood’s most valuable,” meaning he is the best at “ensuring the financial success of film projects.”

Picture this digitized

Picture this digitized!

Critics Choice Awards: On Vh1 last night but it’s not even worth listing the winners.  Same old, same old.

CCA, Pt. 2: It is worth noting that Rooney was the first-ever house band.  How random is that?

CCA, Pt. 3: We love how, in “professional” things, Ludacris becomes Christopher Bridges.

CCA, Pt. 4: Quote of the night came from Jason Alexander, to Brangelina.  It was something like “Even if you don’t win, you get to go home with him and you get to go home with her, so it’s all good!”

CCA, Pt. 5: Who knew Richard Gere was a Buddhist?!  And hates the current administration so much?  Quite interesting.

Twilight: There’s a pretty funny spoof, High School Musical style, making it’s way around the net. You’ll probably appreciate it most if you don’t like Twilight or HSM.

Grey’s Anatomy: Getting its own videogame.  No idea why.

Smallville: Likely coming back for a season 9.  We didn’t even realize the show had been on for that long.  Time flies!

Melrose Place: Looking forward to the remake?  Well then you probably want to see where the original cast is now.

Cinemablend: Has a list of the 100 people “Most Likely To Die in 2009.”  Just so wrong…and yet, in some ways, probably right.

MTV: Should their website feature advertising for the morning-after pill? Sketchy line to cross!

DTV Transition: Worried about losing your signal when television goes all digital in February?  Congress may give you more time to make the change.  But make sure you make it!

SIZZLED OUT: The Mentalist

STILL SIZZLING: This fast-food chain is offering a deal: delete some of your Facebook friends and you’ll get a discounted burger.

One governor's "web of deceit"

One governor's "web of deceit"

Mark Ruffalo: His brother, who was shot in the head last week, has died of his injuries.  The suspect finally turned herself in and will likely face a murder charge.

Grey’s Anatomy: This has been burning up the web the last few hours.  Apparently T.R. Knight has asked to be released from his contract.  Not all that surprising but still should be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Gossip Girl: Getting some buzz for their clever episode titles.  If memory serves us correctly, The O.C. (also by GG creator Josh Schwartz) had some pretty good ones, too.  Can’t forget The Chrismukkah Bar Mitz-vahkkah or The SnO.C.!

Gossip Girl Pt. 2: We’ve been seeing a lot of speculation that Bart Bass isn’t actually dead.  Thoughts?

Rod Blagojevich: Most interesting to us about the arrested governor is that he actually thought he could have the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune fired!  Looks like he failed overall but still managed to cause some trouble for the paper.

Rod Blagojevich Pt. 2: If that chart above (by Gawker) is any indication, the soon-to-be former governor had a lot of connections.  Who will emerge unscathed?  Let’s hope Obama!

Rod Blogojevich Pt. 3: RedEye nominates Rick Astley to replace him.  We. Love. It.

Oprah: Admitting how much weight she’s gained–and how its fluxated through the years makes us feel a lot better!

According to Jim: Everyone’s quick to bash this show without realizing it has been leading the ratings for years.  Obviously, someone out there likes it!

Holiday TV: A fun look at the best and worst holiday-themed episodes of our favorite shows.  Oddly, there’s only two listed for the ‘worst.’  Surely there’s a lot more!

NBC: Ya know how General Motors is failing more and more each day?  So is NBC, says Newsday.  And no, they’re not being too harsh.

Yahoo: Massive layoffs happening today.

Rolling Stone: Already did theirs.

Twitter: Did you know we’re on there?  Yep, we are.

SIZZLED OUT: Wanda Sykes

STILL SIZZLING: This rapper was just arrested for the umpteenth time this year alone.  Doesn’t he ever learn?

You want a movie? Fuggedaboutit!

You want a movie? Fuggedaboutit!

The Simpsons: Will get the honor of a crossword puzzle in The New York Times that’s all about them. You didn’t know 4 across? D’oh!

The Sopranos: Still waiting for a movie? Don’t hold your breath. Be happy with a 33-disc DVD set instead. Yay consolation prizes!

Jason Priestley: We totally agree with you here that it wouldn’t make sense if Brandon was Kelly’s babydaddy.  But how can you say here that you guys “were never bestowed any awards”?  Perhaps you’ve forgotten your two Golden Globe nominations!  That’s right, Jason.  True 90210 fans remember everything!

Dallas: Yes, people do actually still care about this show. How much? Enough to pay $1,000 to meet the stars and then bitch after about what a disaster it was. Bizarre? Yes. But it still doesn’t top the “this was all a dream” finale.

ABC News: In an interesting journalistic choice, ABC News is taking an up-close look at its parent company’s (ABC, d’oh!) decision to “de-gay” Grey’s Anatomy.

Isaiah Washington: Should someone fired from Grey’s Anatomy for a gay scandal of his own really be talking smack about the recent “de-gay”-ing? Isaiah, do you ever learn?

Gossip Girl: That season 3 ratings boost? Gone. The show is steadily slipping. And One Tree Hill is still doing better! Score!

TRL: The series finale is starting to sound more like a reunion and we couldn’t be more excited. Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Nelly and lots of others will make appearances. The show doesn’t air til Sunday, but we’re getting our TiVo ready now!

Nirvana: It’s been 17 years since Nevermind was released. More memorable than the music itself? The cover art of a naked baby in a pool. Well, that boy is–you guessed it!–17 years old now and has re-created the photo.

Elizabeth Banks: Seems like she’s everywhere lately! First W, then Zack and Miri and now Role Models. Banks will try something new next: producing a sci-fi. We’re just as perplexed as you are.

Classic Movies: Chosen by TCM to be put in a DVD set according to genre. And by classic, they also mean old. Hardly any are from the past 20 years.

Twilight: Try Twilight Zone instead! A San Francisco event for the movie was canceled after thousands more fans than expected showed up. The result? Bloody chaos! Good thing we’ve managed to remain completely uninterested in all the hoopla!

Bush: Did he like his depiction in W.? Yes, surprisingly, says portrayer James Brolin.

SIZZLED OUT: Bones

STILL SIZZLING: AOL Television has started its 50 Sexiest Men and Women countdown. These two stars, best known for kicking some serious ass, got the backhanded compliment of being number 5-0 on their respective lists.

Can history PLEASE repeat itself?

Can history PLEASE repeat itself?

SATC: Sarah Jessica Parker is clarifying co-star Kim Cattrall’s announcement yesterday of a Sex and the City sequel.  “All the deals are not done yet,” SJP says.  We’ve never thought of Carrie as a party pooper before but we might have to reassess that view.

Britney: How’s this for a letdown: Brit Brit did appear on-stage with Madonna.  Just not at the same time as Justin.  Disappointing but we remain hopeful for a future reunion.

OTH: We are RUNNING to get the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, which features a multi-page article on One Tree Hill!  Did you know OTH gets better ratings that Gossip Girl?  Damn straight, it does!

American Idol: The new season starts January 13.  Let the countdown begin!

Grey’s Anatomy: The show needs some positive buzz right about now and this might get it for them: they’re planning a February cross-over with Private Practice.   These are usually quite cheesy, though, so we’re curious to see how it’s gonna work.

Chicago Tribune: The official election may be over but the rumor of it isn’t.  The Trib has come up with joke covers showcasing different results.  Pretty funny.

NYT: The Times are taking some steps into the future: first with their own social network, and also with Times Extra, which will link to rival publications.  Which papers will follow suit?

SIZZLED OUT: The Simpsons

STILL SIZZLING: This old fellow is giving one of his many ex-girlfriends away to be married…a mere few weeks after they split!

Who knew a night out with these two could be so dangerous?!

Who knew a night out with these two could be so dangerous?!

Obama: It’s probably too late to first have this argument now, but one debate still rages on:  Is Obama benefiting from the Huxtable effect or hurting from the Urkel effect?  If you don’t know what these things refer to, start watching TV Land and/or TBS immediately!

Ken Paves: The stylist to the stars–and Jessica Simpson’s BFF–says he’s “fine” after getting whacked in the head by a paparazzo’s camera during a night out with the singer.  The “accident” required nine stitches!

Jennifer Hudson: A heartbreaking funeral service took place yesterday.  What more is there left to say?

Grey’s Anatomy: It seems Shonda Rhimes is always taking flack for something.  This time its the “de-gaying” of the show with the firing of Brooke Smith, who played a lesbian, and the rewriting of another bisexual character.  Very odd, considering the show’s been relatively gay-friendly in the past.

Monday Night Football: Obama and McCain made (pre-taped) appearances last night.  We’re totally tired of these out-of-character, lets-just-get-some-votes cameos.  Hello election day!

90210: An upcoming storyline will revolve around one of the teens being preggers.  This will mark a purposeful shift to more issue-oriented episodes.  Note that this is exactly what the execs and stars of the new version criticized the original for.  Oh, the hypocrisy!

Steve Fossett: Tests on bones found near the adventurer’s crash site contain his DNA.  Take that, conspiracy theorists!

Heroes: In light of the show’s floundering ratings and the harsh reviews its received from critics this season, two of the producers have left the team.  Some say creative differences, others say they were fired.  At this point, though, word choice is hardly what matters.

SIZZLED OUT: Keith Olbermann

STILL SIZZLING: Will this actor bring an entourage on set with him when he directs a music video for Ne-Yo and The Game?

Jennifer Hudson and her late mother, Darnell

Jennifer Hudson and her late mother, Darnell

Jennifer Hudson: After finding out her mother and brother were murdered yesterday, the actress-singer has returned home to Chicago.  Hudson’s nephew is still missing and the FBI have joined the investigation, though a suspect–allegedly the boy’s father–is in custody. We can’t imagine the pain Hudson, who lost her father when she was a teen (and just got engaged last month), feels right now and we hope we’ll never have to.

Fall Out Boy: Trying to break a world record by appearing on more than 57 radio shows in a given day.  ‘Cause, you know, that’s cool.

DWTS: Reports are circulating that there’s beef between Cloris and the rest of the cast–though denials are being issued, too.  We all know they’re just upset that an 82-year-old has made it this far in the competition.

The View: Should the co-hosts not be allowed to wear politically-inspired clothing on the show?  That’s the latest coming from Barbara Walters after McCain-lover Elisabeth Hasselbeck sported a shirt for him on the show.  Stepping on free speech?  We’re undecided.

The CW: The network is no longer considered near-death thanks to the ratings improvement for Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill and the (questionable) success of 90210.  Though this makes us happy, we’re not gonna lie: we miss the WB.

Palin: Should she get a gig hosting a talk show if the whole VP thing doesn’t work out?  We’re thinking no.  If she doesn’t win for veep, obviously people don’t like her so why would they watch her show?

David Giuntoli: Who said there isn’t life after MTV?  This former no-name has parlayed a few seasons on Road Rules (and the spin-off challenges) into a role on Privileged.  Apparently he also kissed a dude on Grey’s Anatomy.  Who knew?

SIZZLED OUT: Carrie Underwood

STILL SIZZLING: Which megastar’s girlfriend is doing some of her own recording?  Perhaps they think it will help bring sexy back to their relationship.
