Extended Hiatus

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on May 29, 2009 by sizzlemaker

It’s after much thought and careful consideration that we’ve decided to go on an extended hiatus from SIZZLE.

We dived into the blogging world six months ago and things have spiraled–in a good way!–since then.

We’ve learned how to use different software, participate in social media and provide a service to readers while exercising the skills we already had.

We now run three blogs and, despite our interest in the content, it’s just gotten to be too much.  Something’s gotta give.

And, unfortunately, it’s going to be our first born.

We’ll continue working on TeenDramaWhore and Breaking Tweets Entertainment.

Maybe we’ll come back to SIZZLE at some point.  Maybe we won’t.

The truth is right now we don’t know.

But we know, for now, for this site, this is it.

Much thanks and love to all our readers.

Causing trouble?

Causing trouble?

American Idol: Ryan Seacrest’s “right hand”–and by that, we mean one of his crew members–suffered an injury during rehearsal when the movable staircase malfunctioned.  Seacrest tweeted later that she was “doing much better.”

Kirstie Alley: Her post-Jenny Craig weight gain earned her the cover of this week’s PEOPLE.  At least she consented to the article.  Would really hate if it was a write-around, like the Jessica Simpson cover stories from a few months ago.

Kiefer Sutherland: The 24 actor reportedly had a little scuffle outside a Met Costume Gala after-party.  Doesn’t he know the goal of each day should be avoiding getting sent to jail again?!

Ryan Reynolds: Following the success of Wolverine, Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool in his own spin-off flick.  To be honest, we haven’t seen any X-Men movies but Reynolds isn’t really the superhero type…

Sizzlemaker: Did an interview with SisterDivas Magazine about Sizzle and other blogs. Check it out!

SIZZLED OUT: 50 Cent

STILL SIZZLING: This unauthorized biography wasn’t exactly a home run.  In fact, despite recent controversey, sales have been quite lackluster.

Introducing…Breaking Tweets Entertainment!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on April 20, 2009 by sizzlemaker

Sizzlemaker is proud to announce her latest project: Breaking Tweets Entertainment.

Breaking Tweets Entertainment, an affiliate site of Breaking Tweets, compiles the latest entertainment news and Twitter feedback on that news.

BT Entertainment covers four main areas of the industry: television, music, movies, and celebrities. Content includes reviews, reactions, controversies, concerts, award shows, castings, and appearances/sightings.

Tweets are manually selected by editors (like Sizzlemaker!) and arranged to tell a story in a journalistic-style, including transition paragraphs. Tweets are essentially treated as quotes. Those with pictures, videos, and/or eyewitness accounts from the scene are priority, while tweets with instant reaction to the news will also be selected.

Sites on the Breaking Tweets Network seek to prove the value of Twitter as both a breaking news source and journalistic platform.

The bottom line: Keep coming to Sizzle for your entertainment news and check BT Ent for reaction to that news!

kanye-west-birthday-party-rihanna

Kanye with his "baby sis"

Rihanna: Most publications are reporting, based on “sources,” that she was indeed the victim of Chris Brown’s alleged assault.  (The first to name her, perhaps unethically, was the Los Angeles Times.)  As such, PEOPLE has an article on Kanye West’s concern for Rihanna: he’s “devastated” and would do “any and everything to help her.”  He also says he thinks RiRi could be “the greatest artist of all time.”  That’s a little much, Kanye.  You can stop now.

Obama: The Mrs. will be only the second First Lady in history to be featured on the cover of Vogue.  The first: Hillary Clinton.  We would’ve guessed Jackie O!

Obama Pt. 2: Gave the Huffington Post the honor of being the first online publication to be called upon in a White House news conference.  Will SIZZLE be next?  (Hey, we can dream, can’t we?!)

Grey’s Anatomy: Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are as good as gone.  Apparently it’s just a matter of “when.”

Adam Sandler: If this doesn’t mean hilarity, we don’t know what does.  Sandler will star alongside Chris Rock, Kevin James, Rob Schneider and David Spade in a yet-to-be-titled movie.  It’s gotta be funny, right?

Queen Latifah: Not best known for her singing but the girl does have a voice. She’ll prove it later this month when shes sings  the classic “I’ll Be Seeing You” at the Oscars.

Future TV: A new report argues that, in the future, we’ll have the capability of watching TV through contact lenses.  Tattoos that allow us to feel the character’s emotions may also be possible. Sounds bizarre.  And incredibly intriguing!

My Network TV: In its own futuristic move, network is planning to stop being, well, a network.  Instead it will just have two hours of syndicated programming each week night.  The rest will likely be paid programing a la infomercials.  As long as it includes ShamWow, we’re in!

Sports Illustrated: If the cover model (Bar Refaeli) for the Swimsuit issue is going to pull her bottoms down, couldn’t they at least make sure she didn’t have any tan lines? Or is that supposed to be hot or something?

Celeb Mags: No wonder we can’t get hired!  The grocery line staples are suffering from major losses right now.  Not that we didn’t already know that.  And not that we wanted to work for tabloids, anyway.  PEOPLE (our dream job!) was the only mag to grow!!!!

SIZZLED OUT: Nick Cannon (Mariah Carey)

STILL SIZZLING: A first-time survey by Forbes ranked this actor, known for his sitcom and movie blockbusters, as “Hollywood’s most valuable,” meaning he is the best at “ensuring the financial success of film projects.”

The new parents are keeping it in the family!

The new parents are keeping it in the family!

Gossip Girl: Back from its winter hiatus tonight!  And so is One Tree Hill!  We couldn’t be happier!

Jennifer Love Hewitt: Before the holidays she was engaged.  After the holidays she’s single.  That time of the year can be hard on all of us, we tell ya.

Rebecca Romijn: Gave birth to twin girls last week, one of which is named Charlie…as in Jerry O’Connell’s brother Charlie.  Awkward?

Jennifer Hudson: Contrary to rumors, she won’t be performing at Obama’s inauguration.  Wonder when she’ll get back out there?  Not that we can blame her…

The Bachelor: As we said in November, we’re very interested in seeing what happens this season, which premieres tonight.  A single dad going on a dating show?  So not fair to the kid.

NYT: Credits “superheroes” with saving the film industry in 2008.

NYT Pt. 2: Unfortunately for them, their own industry has yet to be saved.  More evidence of how bad things are: the newspaper will now have ads on its front page–a very non-traditional move.

Men’s Vogue: Going from a previously announced 2 issues a year to…none, according to The Media is Dying.

Perez Hilton: Expect to see him everywhere this week hawking his new book.  Groan.

Facebook: Celebs with legit profiles include Lance Bass, Julie Benz and Josh Groban, but good luck finding them!

Twitter: That nasty virus is still going around and led to the hacking of some celeb accounts.  Guess that helps this article which advocates banning them altogether!  Maybe they should join Facebook?

Sizzle: Check out the shout-out we got on the One Tree Hill Blog!

SIZZLED OUT: Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg), Gossip Girl

STILL SIZZLING: This former Idol was voted favorite star under 35, a new category for the People’s Choice Awards.

Some of us ARE happy with the way our shows ended, James/Dawson/new guy/whoever you are!

Some of us ARE happy with the way our shows ended, James/Dawson/new guy/whoever you are!

Britney: We LOVE the Rolling Stone cover.  Can’t wait to read the full story.

Speidi: If the elopement wasn’t planned, how come US Weekly was there to report on the whole thing?  Fishy as always.  (Both US Weekly and Speidi!)

OTH: Last night’s episode was PHENOMENAL, but, unfortunately, it’ll have to hold us over until January.  And will it pick back up where it left off or will time have passed like in reality? Thankfully, Mark Schwahn gave one of his best interviews in a while and we’ll be analyzing it over and over again for at least the next month.

OTH Pt. 2: Was James Van Der Beek playing Dawson 5 years later or one of the shiteous directors Dawson faced when he went off to LA?  Best line: “If there’s one thing I know, it’s that audiences get crazy over who ends up together.”  You don’t say?!

Gossip Girl: Not on last night but back next week.  In the meantime, Kristin has some interesting scoop.  She says the Lily and Rufus back-story might play out on the web.  Would people actually tune in…er…log on for that?

PEOPLE: Already has a comprehensive Best of 2008 site up, where you get to share what was hot and what was not.   (Kind of reminds you of Sizzle, doesn’t it?)

Mad Men: The suits are hoping the show’s popularity will increase with a musical revue.  We don’t really see how those are related AT ALL.

24: The prequel scored higher than a lot of television shows do each week, but probably not high enough.  Oh, the irony.

Obama: Some say a new comedian will take over for Fred Armisen on SNL.  SNL insists otherwise.  But who else is there?

Box Office: With everyone’s wallet a little tighter these days, we doubt early Wednesday, pre-Thanksgiving, openings are going to help films one bit.  Sorry, Sean Penn, Nicole Kidman, Vince Vaughn and the rest of you who are hedging your bets.

BSB: Guess someone was listening (reading?) when we said the entire group should’ve reunited on TRL last week.

Chinese Democracy: Banned in China in more ways than one.

SIZZLED OUT: Nicollette Sheridan and David Spade

STILL SIZZLING: Which former boy bander just designed a public bathroom for Times Square?  Perhaps this is why he, too, was too busy to join his former bandmates at the TRL finale.
