Is he the next American Idol?

Is he the next American Idol?

American Idol: He hasn’t even won–yet–and already Adam Lambert has his first solo magazine cover story.  Entertainment Weekly gave him the honor, apparently in part because of his ambiguous sexuality.

American Idol Pt. 2: Did you know this is the first time the final 3 contestants were all male?  We had no idea!

Paula Abdul: This is probably the first time we’ve ever seen Ladies Home Journal accused of fabrication but the Idol judge is doing it and doing it strongly.  Just days after the magazine released a cover story where Abdul admits to a past drug addiction, the singer is claiming she never said–or had–any such thing.  Well, someone’s lying…

Susan Boyle: You know you’ve really made it big when you appear on Oprah.  And Boyle will do just that…sort of.  She’ll appear via Oprah’s favorite new thing, Skype.

Prison Break: With only a week left til the series finale, Fox’s latest promo product left critics stumped: a bar of soap.  But The Advocate and GLAAD think they’ve figured out the insinuation–prison rape–and they’re not happy about it.

ABC: Debuted its new “music lounge” yesterday, a radio-like offering with songs that are heard on shows like Grey’s Anatomy. Sounds like a smaller version of iTunes to us.

SIZZLED OUT: A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez by Serena Roberts

STILL SIZZLING: This R & B singer is just the latest celebrity to have nude photos hit the web–but while she calls the act of stealing private things “evil,” she says she’s not bothered by the exposure.

One more year until Woody and gang return!

One more year until Woody and gang return!

Heroes: Here’s why the ratings might be so bad: it’s one of the most pirated shows!  Well, at least now they know someone’s watching!

MTV: Entering the “Obama era,” the New York Times declared based on the channel’s move to more community-based programing.

Seinfeld: Julia Louis-Dreyfus says she’s game for a Seinfeld movie–if someone can find the money.  That’s the problem for everyone these days, isn’t it?

Oprah: Canceled what would’ve been the “Columbine episode” set to air yesterday.  Never heard of O canceling a show so last minute like this before.  We really think she did a disservice and we’re happy to see that some people agree.

Disney: The next installment in the Toy Story series might not be coming until 2010 but the Mouse House wants you thinking about it now.  They screened a teaser for the film at a recent conference, and plugged the upcoming 3-D editions of the first two films and–our personal favorite–Beauty & the Beast.

SIZZLED OUT: Matthew McConaughey

STILL SIZZLING: If there’s no Seinfeld movie, would you settle for a retooled film version of this 90s sitcom?

Screen shot, taken by Kutcher himself, showing his "win"

David Cook: The reigning Idol will participate in a charity run benefiting brain cancer research. Cook has seen the devastating effects of the disease first-hand, as his brother is currently battling it.  We wish them both the best of luck.

YouTube: Upping the ante in its battle against Hulu, the video-sharing site will increase its offering of free television shows.

Ashton Kutcher: At approximately 1:10am (central time), Kutcher became the first Twitter user to get a million followers.  CNN, ever the good sport, was quick to admit its defeat.  Good fun had by all.  Now when does the unfollowing start?

Oprah: Caught the Twitter bug, too, and will dedicate today’s show to the subject.

SIZZLED OUT: Fantasia

STILL SIZZLING: Cameron Diaz shaves her head–or so it seems–in the trailer for this new movie based on a heartbreaking book.

Yes, Hugh Jackman is this mad!

Yes, Hugh Jackman is this mad!

John Travolta: Three months have passed since his son Jett died.  PEOPLE is marking the bitter anniversary with a cover story on how the Travoltas are doing.

Zac Efron: His first Funny or Die video launched yesterday and, well, we didn’t find it funny at all.  Maybe Zac just can’t do comedy?  We’re eager to see 17 Again.  Then we’ll decide.

Hugh Jackman: Quite peeved that early versions of Wolverine hit the internet and we don’t blame him.  But, to be honest, though, it probably won’t hurt the box office–or his paycheck–all that much.

Oprah: See, she CAN have a negative effect!  Innocent people across the country are being duped by fake e-mails suggesting O might give them a million dollars.  Oh, how we wish it were true!

Pushing Daisies: How’s this for bittersweet: the show is still canceled but ABC will at least air the remaining episodes this summer, along with what’s left of Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money.  Guess it’s better than never knowing what was going to happen?

SIZZLED OUT: Bob Saget (Full House, Surviving Suburbia)

STILL SIZZLING: This singer whose career longevity is only matched by that of his rock-solid marriage was just named in someone else’s divorce suit!

Meet Dorothy Gale

Meet Dorothy Gale

Sizzle: We’re back.  We know you missed us.  You can calm down now.

Lindsay Lohan: Her relationship with Samantha Ronson has never been anything less than bizarre.  Even though the restraining order reports are false, we wouldn’t be surprised in the least if either girl sought one.

Eminem: No better way to launch a comeback than to release a song and video taking potshots at practically everyone in the tabloids.  That’s Eminem for ya.

The Simpsons: MySpace is running a contest inviting fans to film their own couch gag.  Could see record participation for this one, we think.

Beverly Hills 90210: More than 10 years after it originally aired, season seven was released on DVD yesterday.  Who wants to bet that after all 10 seasons are done, they’ll make a complete series boxset and entice us to shell out even more money?

Oprah: Now that she’s done campaigning for Obama, O has turned her sights to the 2016 Olympics which, if she has her way, will be in our hometown of Chicago.  Honestly not sure if we want the Olympics here, so we can’t say whether the Oprah effect will be good or bad.

The Wizard of Oz: Getting a modern-day treatment for a new televisions series to be called Dorothy Gale.  Can’t see it having the same charm as the original, though.  To be fair, other Oz spin-offs (The Wiz, Wicked, etc.) have done quite well so this one might see some success, too.

SIZZLED OUT: Survivor

STILL SIZZLING: This one-time iconic sitcom dad–who is best known in real life for his foul comedy–returned to TV this week in another father role.

Jade Goody (1981-2009)

Jade Goody (1981-2009)

Jade Goody: The British reality TV star passed away yesterday after battling cancer for less than a year.  Too sad for words.

Oprah: The big O rarely shares the cover of her magazine, but might be starting a new trend.  After featuring Michelle Obama on the April cover, Oprah will share another one with Ellen DeGeneres.

Bruce Willis: Got married this weekend–with ex-wife Demi Moore and her (hotter and younger) hubby Ashton Kutcher in attendance!  Love that some split families do actually get along!

TV Guide: Back with its own Web site now that they’re no longer affiliated with the still-running TVGuide.com.  This will be quite confusing!

Whoopi Goldberg: Speaking of TV Guide the magazine, Goldberg lashed out at them on an episode of The View last week for writing an unflattering piece on her style of dress.  Love when Whoopi gets feisty!

SIZZLED OUT: Dane Cook

STILL SIZZLING: This couple, 22 years apart in age, got engaged recently after more than 7 years of dating.

Suri and Shiloh: NOT ACTUALLY TOGETHER!

Suri and Shiloh: NOT ACTUALLY TOGETHER!

Rihanna: If you record a song with your alleged abuser is it guaranteed to fail?  Or will curiosity lead to mega success? Time will tell…

AniMayer: No more?  No more?!  Really?  That’s what everyone is reporting.  Is the split for good this time?

American Idol: Is the new veto rule giving the judges too much power?  Newsday sure is arguing against it.  Given past shocking and potentially unfair ousters, we’re on board.

CBS: Planning a fall pilot about a man who resurfaces after allegedly disappearing on 9/11.  Not sure the country is ready for something like this…

OK! Magazine: We like to think our readers are smarter than this but just to be sure: do not believe the cover photo seen above!  Totally photoshopped!

Demi Moore: Might be taking the whole new media trend a little too far. Who’s gonna tell her she and Ashton are acting more like mother and son??

Mark Zuckerberg: The Facebook founder is making his Oprah debut today!  We predict a huge drop in ratings.  What moms will want to see hear what he has to say?

Jossip: Makes the argument that pop culture is returning to the 90s.  We can’t complain.  It was a good decade!

SIZZLED OUT: Travis Barker and DJ AM

STILL SIZZLING: This 1980s version of Mean Girls could get the Broadway treatment.

Prince Charming and his Sleeping Beauty. All together now: awwwwwwww!

Prince Charming and his Sleeping Beauty. All together now: awwwwwwww!

Zac Efron: Completely in love with the above picture of him and Vanessa Hudgens.  Very fitting that two of Disney’s biggest stars recreated a major fictional Disney couple for this portrait.  Just beautiful!

The View: In his first-ever appearance on the show, Jimmy Kimmel thought it’d be funny to come out dressed as former co-host Rosie O’Donnell.  Clever but we all know there doesn’t need to be any more fuel added to that fire.  Wonder if Ro will respond on her blog?

The View Pt. 2: But Babs, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, insists she “can never be mad at Rosie.”  Again, wonder if Ro will respond on her blog?

Oprah: Doing a special show this Thursday, alongside Tyra Banks, “dedicated to all the Rihannas of the world.”  Again, should fuel be added to this particular (and personal–as in, just between Rihanna and Chris Brown) fire–or is this a great way to give a very important topic (domestic violence) some much-needed exposure?

TMZ: Head honco Harvey Levin wholeheartedly believes (as if we couldn’t tell this already) that the mainstream media should be covering Rihanna/Chris Brown even more.  Levin, meet Oprah.

Gilmore Girls: If watching it on ABC Family isn’t enough, the entire series is also coming to SOAPNet, one of our favorite channels!

SIZZLED OUT: Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel

STILL SIZZLING: She’s no longer an Idol contestant, but get used to hearing this gal’s voice during every elimination episode.

Worthy of praise and scholarly study?

Worthy of praise and scholarly study?

Obama: It was only a matter of time before a political cartoon relating to our new president caused outrage.  Freedom of the press?  Low blow? Undecided how we feel.

Solange: Beyonce’s little sis had a little scare yesterday when she passed out and woke up in the hospital.  She took to her Twitter to tell everyone the problem was just dehydration.  So is this the future of PR?

Oprah: Caught part of an episode today and saw she was communicating with guests via Skype.  So is the future of talk shows?

Oscars: If you’re not into the nominated movies (and believe us, it’s possible!), here are three other reasons to watch: Zac Efron, Miley and Robert Pattison.  Still not convinced?  Yeah, we didn’t think so.

The Hills: One of the shows that will be the subject of panels at this year’s Paley Festival.  The Hills?  Seriously?

MC Hammer: Getting his own reality show on A & E.  Didn’t know he had 5 kids!  But also not really surprised…

Katherine McPhee: In addition to appearing on an upcoming episode of Brothers & Sisters, the former American Idol contestant will do a guest stint on CSI.  Looks like someone has a case of the acting bug!

USA Today: We like this headline–‘Lost’ and ’24’: Simple titles, complex, brilliant shows.

Facebook: A recent uproar about Terms of Service changes may have been quelled but it’s still worth reading what happened and who was behind it.

SIZZLED OUT: Justin Guarini

STILL SIZZLING: This popular former game show host admits he’s not one of its “loyal” viewers.  Guess he doesn’t want to come on down to TV set.

Scroll down to see when this classic episode first aired!

Scroll down to see when this classic episode first aired!

Jennifer Hudson: Maybe we’re reading too much into it but her face just seemed so sad during her Superbowl performance, the first one since the tragic deaths of her mother, brother and nephew in October.

Bruce Springteen: The Boss, on the other hand, was overly enthusiastic, going as far as sliding across the stage…and slamming his crotch into a camera.  Just as funny: when he said “I’m going to Disneyland!”  Guess he forgot he was in Tampa and in Florida it’s called Disney World!

The Daily Beast: Their lookback at some of the best post-Superbowl programming includes a classic Friends episode with Julia Roberts and Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s debut on Survivor.  Our favorite: Kevin and Winnie’s first kiss on The Wonder Years.

Britney: News broke late on Friday that she and her conservator (aka her dad) obtained restraining orders against Adnan Ghalib and Sam Lutfi, the creepos who were in life back when it was going down the tubes.

Michael Phelps: So aside from the fact that smoking marijuana is illegal, we don’t see what the big deal is.  It’s such a common thing for people his age.  And it’s unfair that, because of his Olympic success, he’s been put on this pedestal in a role model-like position.  Cut him some slack!

Oprah: We have to wonder if hiring a former MTV CEO to head up her network is the best idea.  Something tell us MTV and the Oprah Winfrey Network won’t be going after the same audiences…

Obama: The other famous O is featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly and it’s quite an unflattering photo.  They made his head look huge!

Wheel of Fortune: If you watch all this week, you’ll see the contestants that we taped with!  Our episode, however, doesn’t air til the 27th.

SIZZLED OUT: Anna Faris (Chris Pratt)

STILL SIZZLING: ABC Family shook up their schedule by announcing 3 news shows–and the canceling of this cult fave.
