Are they or aren't they?!

Are they or aren't they?!

Britney: Celebrated the New Year by attending her brother Bryan’s “secret” wedding.  Interesting that he got married just months after being named one of PEOPLE’s hottest bachelors!

Pink: What is the deal with ex-husband Carey Hart?  No longer married but still “love” each other–and last night, he introduced her on stage.  What a strange relationship!

Taylor Swift: Forced to share a stage with ex-BF Joe Jonas as the ball dropped.  Is it fair to assume those two did not share a New Year’s greeting?

Twitter: Getting (unwanted?) press attention after it came out Israel is using the social media site to keep people updated on the Gaza conflict.

Oprah: Remember those cute kids who changed T.I.’s Whatever You Like into an election song?  O just gave their school a check for more than $300,000.

Nikki Blonsky: No longer facing charges for an airport altercation with one of the ANTM contestants.  Her dad could still get up to 5 years in jail.

Gawker: The media company sold or is in the process of selling two of their sites: Consumerist and Defamer.  Even the on-line world isn’t immune to the economy’s woes!

Viacom: If you want your MTV, you can have it!  The company reached a deal with Time Warner Cable to keep their stations–Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, etc.–on the air.

Blagojevich: We fully expected to return from our travels and find him out of office.  No such luck.

2008: Sooooooo over the ‘top ten’ and ‘best of’ lists.  Hello 2009!

STILL SIZZLING: This celebrity supercouple may or may not be getting divorced on Valentine’s Day.  But what about the kids?!

There goes our future...

There goes our future...

Mash-Ups: We are loving the mash-ups of rap songs and children’s programs.  Some combinations: Spongebob and Eminem, Family Guy and Akon, Barney and Soulja Boy, etc. Pretty hysterical.

Kanye West: Forget music.  Kanye is switching gears (or industries) and looking for an internship in the fashion world.  Something tells us he won’t like getting coffee for the higher-ups, but we’ll let him figure that out all on his own.

Viacom: Laid off a whopping 850 people today at MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, Comedy Central and other subsidiaries.  Not a good day.

MTV: Holy crap!  Long-time correspondent John Norris is supposedly one of the fired employees!  What is the world coming to?!

NBC: And the ax continues to fall.  500 employees cut.

Eliot Spitzer: Don’t count the former gov down and out.  He’s been hired by Slate to write a column on goverment regulation.  To all wondering, this does not include prostitution.

The Daily Beast: Great piece on why Gwyneth Paltrow’s new site (which goes by the oh-so-attractive name GOOP) is a big mistake.

Bratz: Victory for Barbie collections everywhere!  A judge has ordered production on Bratz dolls to cease immediately (and for stores to send back their stock!) since the (ugly) dolls were conceived by a dude who worked for Mattel at the time.  Ah, sweet revenge!

Sundance: No less than 3 journalism/media films in the mix.  We’re dying to see The September Issue, which follows Anna Wintour and the production of Vogue’s September issue.

Chicago Magazine: Has a really interesting article on Amy Jacobson, the news reporter fired for “misconduct” when she tried to interview Craig Steib, whose wife remains missing.

Shannen Doherty version 2.0

Shenae Grimes: AKA Shannen Doherty version 2.0

Gawker: We love their headline today: Newspapers Agree, Today is Election Day!

CBS: Is there a such thing as comfort food through television?  CBS seems to think so.  They’re crediting the bad economy for their surging ratings.  Apparently the network is a “safe haven.”  Not for us, though.  It’s still our least favorite.

HSM: OMFG, a sing-along version of the third movie will be in theaters THIS FRIDAY!  We are so there!

Shenae Grimes: As rumors persist that the new 90210 starlet is this generation’s Shannen Doherty, the young actress admits seeking advice from dear ol’ Brenda.  Something tell us–perhaps it’s the multiple show firings or the I Hate Brenda Newsletter–this wasn’t the best idea.

Fuse: In the ongoing music television war, Fuse has won the latest battle.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremonies, previously broadcast on MTV and VH1, are now partnered with Fuse.  And here we thought nobody watched the ceremonies to begin with.

MTV: Striking out even more with secret layoffs that will supposedly go down today.  Guess not a lot of people just want their MTV anymore.

Viacom: Would you rather a huge, annual holiday party or two extra vacation days?  Viacom isn’t giving its employees a choice, just the latter.  No wonder MTVers (owned by Viacom) are so bummed these days.

AOL: Are the morning news shows too long or just too boring?  No need to worry anymore since AOL is condensing them into a handy 5-minute clip.  But will people really take the time to seek this out if they didn’t care to watch in the first place?

Obama: Don’t expect to see many celebs at the massive rally tonight in Chicago.  The Obama camp has specifically asked certain stars like Diddy and Ben Affleck not to attend (and it’s Diddy’s b-day today!).  Discrimination, anyone?  Or just a smart safety-focused (and maybe a teeny bit selfish) move?
