Carnegie Hall-worthy! Who woulda thunk it?!

Carnegie Hall-worthy! Who woulda thunk it?!

DWTS: Brooke Burke and Derek Hough were declared the winners last night.  We’re cool with that, though we also would’ve been happy if Lance won.

DWTS Pt. 2: Does life change after you’ve won the trophy?  Hardly.

Gossip Girl: Josh Schwartz has squashed yesterday’s news of a Lily and Rufus flashback show.  What he’s planning instead: webisodes all about Blair’s maid, Dorota.

Carson Daly: The TV host, known for getting stars to spill, has been keeping a secret of his own: he’s gonna be a dad!  Jennifer Love Hewitt and Tara Reid, you better get busy!

SAG: The actors’ strike is more likely to happen when you got big names like Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep supporting it.  Thanks a lot, guys.

NBC: Among the winter schedule changes: two SNL specials, more reality shows and a TV movie.  We doubt ratings will improve.

Family Guy: Seth Green (who voices Chris) and Carnegie Hall kinda seem like a mismatch, but we guess you gotta give the people what they want.  And what they want is a live reading of Family Guy scripts.  Go figure.

Reality TV: Here’s another reason to hate it: people are actually being diagnosed with Truman Syndrome, a type of paranoia where they (incorrectly) think their life is being documented by cameras.  If it wasn’t so sad, we’d probably laugh.

Thanksgiving: Forget the turkey.  All you need is a TV!  There’ll be marathons of faves like I Love Lucy, House, Fresh Prince, Arrested Development and lots more ALL WEEKEND!

90210: One of those aforementioned marathons will be on SOAPNet, with focusing on Kelly’s love life (creatively titled Kelly’s Leftovers).  Doesn’t get much better than that.  But it does get worse: we won’t have access to SOAPNet that day! Tragic.

MTV: Will have its own Inaugural Ball in D.C.  No worries if you can’t go;  they’ll also broadcast it on MTV’s 894328297312 channels.

SIZZLED OUT: Joey Fatone (NSYNC)

STILL SIZZLING: This tear drop-tattooed artist made the best album of the year, or so says Blender.

November 24, 2008 Pt. 2

Remember this face?

Remember this face?

Speidi: If you believe Perez, the couple eloped over the weekend.  Waiting for a more legitimate source to confirm.  (Even PEOPLE doesn’t know for sure!)

Miley Cyrus: Celebrated her Sweet 16 for real yesterday, months after a birthday bash that shut down Disneyland.

Britney: There’s a beyond-cheesy commercial airing to promote her birthday (aka promotional stunt) performance on Good Morning America that’s still more than a week away.

1999: As the new year approaches, MTV has created a 10-year class reunion of sorts, with a look back at names as forgotten as Orgy and Lou Bega and as still-relevant as Kid Rock and Jessica Simpson.

OTH: Two episodes tonight, though one is a repeat.  Still, we’ll gladly take it!

The Bachelor: Why would a father go on a notoriously unsuccessful matchmaking show when he has a son to think about?  The relationships never work out, so why introduce a woman into your kid’s life who probably won’t be there permanently?  Guess we’ll find out when the new season begins in early January.

Michael Phelps: Has a new endorsement deal with Subway.  Doesn’t really seem like the food of an Olympian.

Gawker: Turns out that article on celebrity couples was plagarized…by the original author himself.  We’re confused, too.

Hannity and Colmes: Will be just Hannity when the new year starts.  No word yet if there will be a new sparring partner.

Network TV: One area of the economy the government won’t step in to save, though it really needs it.

USA Today: Also making lay-offs, but a smaller amount than this time last year so we guess this is good news?

Soon this all will be just a bad dream!

Soon this all will be just a bad dream!

Paris Hilton: At first “sources” were saying that she and Benji Madden are no longer together but we weren’t sure whether to believe it.  They made huge declarations of their love as recently as last month.  Turns out, the Associated Press got official confirmation from Hilton’s publicist.  You win some, you lose some…

Miley Cyrus: Wants to be on a reality television show beacause they’re “crazy” and it would be cool “to be in a really nice house with cameras following me around.”  Lucky for her, MTV is casting for season 22 of The Real World.  Be careful what you wish for, Miley!

Rob Lowe: Chinese delegates, in California to discuss global warming with the governator, got the pleasure of witnessing Lowe film a scene for Brothers & Sisters.  Lowe even got them directors’ chairs and headsets.  What an inefficient use of time!

Gawker: Categorizes the 4 different ways magazines have been killed lately.  Funny and sad at the same time.

OK! Magazine: They’re practically the only mag out there hiring.  Too bad we don’t want to work for them!  (Yes, we know one day we will regret saying that!)

Jossip: The aforementioned regret has already begun.  Internships at some pretty desirable mags are now for sale, as in YOU PAY TO DO THEM.  This truly is a “New America.” One in which we stay in bed under the covers all day.

Soap Opera Digest: You know times are bad when a publication starts asking for “volunteer writers.”   At least they’re not auctioning the spots off to the highest bidder!

24: The two-hour telepic, airing Sunday, is a “dry-run” for a full-length feature in theaters.  Ratings and DVD sales will be the deciding factors.

Blink-182: Mark Hoppus admits to talking a lot lately with former bandmates Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge.  The best news: a music reunion, though not yet discussed, isn’t totally out of the question!

Beauty & the Geek: May have a second life on MTV, with D-list celebs participating as the beauties.  Hard to believe Ashton Kutcher is involved with this crap.

AR2: What if there was a second American Revolution?  That question is the subject of a new series in the works at FX.  The “incendiary” plot will revolve around college students who stage a revolt and try to re-define the meaning of patriotism.

Judd Apatow: His next movie won’t be out til next summer at the earliest and it’s already getting press play.  We’re not surprised considering, a, his track record and, b, the stars lined up (Adam Sandler, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jason Schwartzman and wife Leslie Mann).

SIZZLED OUT: Josh Schwartz

STILL SIZZLING: This actress spent an hour in the hospital after getting sick on a plane.  Realizing the best days of our career were behind us would make us sick, too.

Alive and well!

Alive and well!

Miley Cyrus: If you went to the tween’s MySpace yesterday, you might’ve seen a freaky message: that the 16-year-old Miley was dead.  Alas, it is not true (as evident by her appearance on the TRL finale last night) and her page was actually hacked.  Not cool!

Britney: In case you missed it on MTV last night, a preview of a Britney-focused documentary has hit the ‘net.

NYT: One of their own is under fire for using Facebook as a way to contact teens to be interviewed for a story.  And a new ethics debate begins…

NYT Pt. 2: And here the paper mulls the possibility of it’s own demise if the economy doesn’t improve.

SIZZLED OUT: Lindsay Lohan

STILL SIZZLING: Rumor had it that this star–who still looks like she’s 17, if you ask us–went into labor.  Not true, though, if you ask her rocker husband, fatherhood is imminent.

Feels like just yesterday, doesn't it, Carson?

Feels like just yesterday, doesn't it, Carson?

Brothers & Sisters: It was really nice that the show wanted to incorporate Proposition 8 awareness into its show.  Too bad the episode will air after the measure passed.  Damn scheduling changes.

Supreme Court: Considering they hear very few cases, it’s really bothersome that they’re spending their time debating the use of curse words on TV.  Aren’t there more important issues going on?

CNN: Were you as confused as we were by the hologram magic on CNN’s election coverage the other night?  This article explains the science behind it and, well, we’re still confused.

Gulliver’s Travels: We never had any incentive before to read the book and, whaddyaknow, that’s about to change!  The classic tale is being made into a movie with Jack Black!  That’s enough to send us right to the library.

Google: Any chance at partnering with Yahoo is gone now that the big bad government said doing so would break antitrust laws.  We happen to think Monopoly the game is a lot more fun.  Maybe not for Google or Yahoo, though.

Political Cartoons: Man, we wish we could draw.  We wish we could be funny.  Political cartoonists get to be both!  And they’ve done a killer job with election results.

Youth Votership: Turnout was up by more than 2 million in comparison to the ’04 election.  Let’s hope it keeps rising in the future.

Election 2008: In case you’ve been living under a rock lately (or you want to reminisce or you just want to be amused) MTV has condensed the entire election into a 60-second clip.  Surprisingly, it’s pretty good!

TRL: We’re less than two weeks away from when the iconic show will air no more.  Looking back on the past 10 years, it’s like reliving our childhood all over again!

Backstreet Boys: Competing with NSYNC may seem so 90s but the original boy band admits they’re “still striving to be better!”  Watch out, Jonas Brothers!

SIZZLED OUT: Pete Wentz

STILL SIZZLING: This animated show is being called out by gay-rights groups for using the phrase ‘that’s so gay.’  How stupid can be you be?  Like, duh!

Shannen Doherty version 2.0

Shenae Grimes: AKA Shannen Doherty version 2.0

Gawker: We love their headline today: Newspapers Agree, Today is Election Day!

CBS: Is there a such thing as comfort food through television?  CBS seems to think so.  They’re crediting the bad economy for their surging ratings.  Apparently the network is a “safe haven.”  Not for us, though.  It’s still our least favorite.

HSM: OMFG, a sing-along version of the third movie will be in theaters THIS FRIDAY!  We are so there!

Shenae Grimes: As rumors persist that the new 90210 starlet is this generation’s Shannen Doherty, the young actress admits seeking advice from dear ol’ Brenda.  Something tell us–perhaps it’s the multiple show firings or the I Hate Brenda Newsletter–this wasn’t the best idea.

Fuse: In the ongoing music television war, Fuse has won the latest battle.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremonies, previously broadcast on MTV and VH1, are now partnered with Fuse.  And here we thought nobody watched the ceremonies to begin with.

MTV: Striking out even more with secret layoffs that will supposedly go down today.  Guess not a lot of people just want their MTV anymore.

Viacom: Would you rather a huge, annual holiday party or two extra vacation days?  Viacom isn’t giving its employees a choice, just the latter.  No wonder MTVers (owned by Viacom) are so bummed these days.

AOL: Are the morning news shows too long or just too boring?  No need to worry anymore since AOL is condensing them into a handy 5-minute clip.  But will people really take the time to seek this out if they didn’t care to watch in the first place?

Obama: Don’t expect to see many celebs at the massive rally tonight in Chicago.  The Obama camp has specifically asked certain stars like Diddy and Ben Affleck not to attend (and it’s Diddy’s b-day today!).  Discrimination, anyone?  Or just a smart safety-focused (and maybe a teeny bit selfish) move?

Will the economy stop the monster that is Facebook?

Will the economy stop the monster that is Facebook?

Britney: The courts have named her dad “permanent conservator” of her affairs and her estate. Though apparently permanent doesn’t actually mean permanent. It’s just til another legal process begins.

MTV: MTV is returning to its roots in a 21st century way: all music, all the time, all on the web. We’ll see how long this lasts.

Republicans: Inherently funnier or just easier to make fun of? McCain and company have been punchlines seven times more than the Obama folks on late-night TV.

Willa Holland: Loved her on The O.C. and we wish some of that bitchiness came through on Gossip Girl. Two more episodes to wow us, Willa.

Facebook: Could hire its 1,000th employee or could start massive layoffs. Undoubtedly will still define a generation and perhaps that’s really all that matters.

Oscars: Might the Best Picture category be a showdown between The Dark Knight and Wall-E? Might this be premature since the awards won’t be handed out til February? Yes and yes.

Jennifer Hudson: Speaking of showdowns, people are already speculating which celebrity magazine will better cover the tragedy. Sad excuse to make money or legitimately just doing their job?

Christian Science Monitor: Going out of print, effective early spring 2009. Still available on the web, though. What other papers will follow?

The View: “Don’t believe anything the blogs are saying,” said co-host Sherri Shepherd. We’re insulted!

SIZZLED OUT: Dustin Milligan (90210)

STILL SIZZLING: They say history repeats itself, especially on television. Case-in-point: This 90s favorite is being retooled to add its residence to next year’s fall schedule.

Bet Disney wishes she looked like this all the time.

Bet Disney wishes she looked like this all the time.

Channel Drift: Remember how MTV first started out playing music videos and has since morphed into a totally different channel? Well, it’s a lot more common than we might’ve originally thought. Fourteen other cable channels have also undergone identity changes. Maybe we should cut MTV some slack.

90210: Will have a shortened episode on Nov. 4 so viewers won’t have to choose between that and election coverage. ‘Cause, you know, the audiences for those two things are exactly the same.

James Marsden: Who does The Notebook, Enchanted and, let’s not forget, 27 Dresses actor want to impress? Judd Apatow! He thinks playing a bigot in the new film Sex Drive will help his cause. Good luck with that, James.

Obama: Might he make Oprah an ambassador? After all, she is the Queen of All Media.

Partisan TV: A new report says Republicans favor Rock of Love and Dems go for I Love New York. That’s high class right there.

Bi-Partisan Comedy: Less likely today as left-leaning comedians have the market cornered. Are Democrats just better at everything?

Miley Cyrus: Those scandalous bathroom photos from the spring?  Courtesy of a hacker now under investigation by the FBI.  But wasn’t she just being Miley?

MTV: Not going ahead with planned series Model Makers, which chronicled the making of wannabe models into the correct (read: skinny) body types.  Shocking considering the other stuff they’ve shown.  Who remembers I Want A Famous Face?  Maybe we shouldn’t cut MTV some slack…

SIZZLED OUT: Samuel L. Jackson

STILL SIZZLING: Which R & B singer says she’s motivated not by athletes’ chiseled looks but instead their smooth skills?
