Scrubbing up once more!

Scrubbing up again!

Heath Ledger: On the anniversary of his death (Jan. 22, 2008), he gets a posthumous Oscar nomination, the only one for The Dark Knight.

George Clooney: After months of ‘will he or won’t he?’ debate, Clooney will indeed make the rounds once more on ER, PEOPLE is reporting.

Oscars: Wall-E isn’t up for best picture after all.  Dun dun dunnnnnn.

Oscars, Pt. 2: The Golden Globes nominated Kate Winslet for supporting actress in The Reader.  Now she’s got leading actress but nothing for Revolutionary Road, which–unlike at the Globes–was shut out of the top categories.

American Idol: Can anything take this thing down?  Even with the inaugural festivities broadcast last night, Idol still racked up the highest ratings.  There’s gotta be a fix, right?  Or were people Obama-ed out by nightfall?

Veronica Mars: Fans who felt jilted by the show’s cancellation a few years back can rejoice now that a movie adaptation is finally underway.  Never watched the series but probably could be convinced to go see it.

Fall Out Boy: Recorded a special version of The Simpsons theme song, to be played after this week’s episode.  Our guess is Star Wars is next.

Obama: Gotta love the internet.  You can be in one place and still see practically every Obama front page from yesterday’s papers.

Obama, Pt. 2: He doesn’t have to give up his addiction!  Obama will keep the CrackBerry, now outfitted with special security encryption.  So how long until it’s hacked?

The Daily Show: Time flies!  The little series that could is 10 years old!  And Variety has a bunch of articles to mark the milestone.

No Doubt: Hey baby! Going on tour (with Paramore) this summer for the first time in 5 years!

SIZZLED OUT: Marcia Cross

STILL SIZZLING: This alleged hold-out on a TV-to-movie adaptation said he might “put the script in his shredder.”

3 British boys are better than 1! (Even if they are the same person)

3 British boys are better than 1! (Even if they are the same person)

Pixar: With two new films (Bolt and Up!) slated to come out within the next 8 months, the genius animation company is already looking ahead to 2012.  It’s probably that TLC that makes their movies so good!

Chuck: We know this will just give us a headache but maybe others out there will enjoy it.  Chuck is going 3-D for one episode that will conveniently air around the Superbowl.  This is the first time the game will air on NBC since 1998.

ER: As the final season starts to approach the midway mark, George Clooney still has not signed on to make a return appearance.  Noah Wyle seems to think differently.  Clooney’s rep gave no comment.  Secrets, secrets.

Britney: Took her boys to Louisiana on her first trip with them out-of-state since she lost custody to K-Fed.  Good for her!

Ed Westwick: The British pretty boy has something new to gossip about: K-Swiss shoes, as he’s now the star of their new international campaign.  If we had a choice, his feet are so NOT the body part we would most like to see.  Just sayin’.

Lost: The fifth season will start January 21, a Wednesday.  ABC isn’t promising the 17 new episodes will be aired straight through.  That’s code for ‘we have a strategic scheduling plan in the works.  We’re just not telling you yet.’

SIZZLED OUT: Conan O’Brien

STILL SIZZLING: One half of this international couple says his infant son is just like a Zen Buddhist.  Is that normal?!

Hell hath no fury like a lover scorned...

Hell hath no fury like a lover scorned...

Chicago Tribune: Has a handy-dandy slideshow of newspaper front pages from across the country on this historic day.  Very cool.

Newspapers: Speaking of the dailies, you better a copy of yours while they’re are still some left.  Newspapers are selling ridiculously fast as everyone wants a momento from this historic occasion.

U.S. News & World Report: It’s officially a trend.  The iconic mag is going monthly.  This comes just months after switching from weekly to bi-weekly.  Sigh.

The White House: If the lives of past First Families are any indication, Obama’s kids can look forward to some awesome perks for living in the White House.  Not to mention a new puppy!

Election Laws: Did you know Obama’s grandmother’s vote will still count even though she passed away the other day?  Not to sound cold-hearted, but we don’t know how we feel about that.

Gay Marriage: While a court battle could be in the future, it looks like Californians have successfully passed Proposition 8, banning gay marriage.  The discrimination is ironic considering Obama’s accomplishment yesterday.  Here’s hoping one day we conquer this, too, and have a gay man or woman as president.

Madonna: It’s okay if you chose to go Madge’s concert last night rather than watch election results at home.  She kept the audience informed with choice lines like “this is a motherfucking important evening!.”

Taylor Swift: Used MySpace to call out ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas on his immature break-up tactic: doing it over the phone!  Ah, the trials and tribulations of young love in the age of the internet!

Michael Crichton: The Jurassic Park author died yesterday at age 66.  The death comes as a surprise, despite the Emmy winner’s battle with cancer.  He’s also responsible for the creation of ER.

The View: This was THEE post-election show to tune into.  Our award for best reaction goes to Sherri Shepherd.  Very emotional. Funniest reaction?  Whoopi predicting there will be lots of, um, whoopee in the White House!
