Can history PLEASE repeat itself?

Can history PLEASE repeat itself?

SATC: Sarah Jessica Parker is clarifying co-star Kim Cattrall’s announcement yesterday of a Sex and the City sequel.  “All the deals are not done yet,” SJP says.  We’ve never thought of Carrie as a party pooper before but we might have to reassess that view.

Britney: How’s this for a letdown: Brit Brit did appear on-stage with Madonna.  Just not at the same time as Justin.  Disappointing but we remain hopeful for a future reunion.

OTH: We are RUNNING to get the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, which features a multi-page article on One Tree Hill!  Did you know OTH gets better ratings that Gossip Girl?  Damn straight, it does!

American Idol: The new season starts January 13.  Let the countdown begin!

Grey’s Anatomy: The show needs some positive buzz right about now and this might get it for them: they’re planning a February cross-over with Private Practice.   These are usually quite cheesy, though, so we’re curious to see how it’s gonna work.

Chicago Tribune: The official election may be over but the rumor of it isn’t.  The Trib has come up with joke covers showcasing different results.  Pretty funny.

NYT: The Times are taking some steps into the future: first with their own social network, and also with Times Extra, which will link to rival publications.  Which papers will follow suit?

SIZZLED OUT: The Simpsons

STILL SIZZLING: This old fellow is giving one of his many ex-girlfriends away to be married…a mere few weeks after they split!

Our dream gift!!!

Our dream gift!!!

SATC: There WILL be a Sex and the City sequel!  The always dishy Kim Cattrall has confirmed rumors that have been buzzing for months.  Upon hearing this news, we couldn’t help but wonder: what’s left to tell?

Britney: We’ve been waiting for this day!  Brit Brit and Justin are getting back together!  Sort of.  Madonna has recruited the former couple to do a number on stage during her current tour.  Will sparks fly?  WE CAN ONLY HOPE!

Eliot Spitzer: Won’t face charges in the prostitution scandal that forced him to resign as governor of New York.  The state found no evidence of him using government funds, but isn’t just the fact that he even used a prostitute enough?  Isn’t that illegal?

Disney: Think Disney products are just for kids?  Think again.  Mickey and company provide a wide range of goods including…a $3,000 wedding gown and cashmere sweaters?  Yes and yes.

Melissa Etheridge: The singer is putting a new spin on ‘no taxation without representation.’  She says since Proposition 8 has banned marriage for gay people, “I am taking that to mean I do not have to pay my state taxes, because I am not a full citizen.”  A little bit of a stretch, no?

Samantha Ronson: Added her two cents the Prop 8 debate and she actually gave a pretty good analogy.  She pointed out the craziness in passing an animal-rights proposal but banning gay marriage: “yes, i am glad that the chickens will have more room and better conditions as they wait to die,” she wrote on her MySpace, “but i just think it’s frightening that people show more compassion for tomorrow’s dinner than for the chef.”

90210: Mattel will release 90210-inspired dolls next September similar to the ones made during the series’ original run.  We are very perplexed: a) the new 90210 sucks and is far from a hit and soooo not kid-friendly–why make dolls based on it? and b) what makes anyone think the new 90210 will still be around next September?  Did we mention it sucks?  And lastly, if anyone has the original dolls, we’re still looking for a complete set!

Thriller: Is the Michael Jackson song/video coming to Broadway?  Could be. Could also be a major disaster.

Hell hath no fury like a lover scorned...

Hell hath no fury like a lover scorned...

Chicago Tribune: Has a handy-dandy slideshow of newspaper front pages from across the country on this historic day.  Very cool.

Newspapers: Speaking of the dailies, you better a copy of yours while they’re are still some left.  Newspapers are selling ridiculously fast as everyone wants a momento from this historic occasion.

U.S. News & World Report: It’s officially a trend.  The iconic mag is going monthly.  This comes just months after switching from weekly to bi-weekly.  Sigh.

The White House: If the lives of past First Families are any indication, Obama’s kids can look forward to some awesome perks for living in the White House.  Not to mention a new puppy!

Election Laws: Did you know Obama’s grandmother’s vote will still count even though she passed away the other day?  Not to sound cold-hearted, but we don’t know how we feel about that.

Gay Marriage: While a court battle could be in the future, it looks like Californians have successfully passed Proposition 8, banning gay marriage.  The discrimination is ironic considering Obama’s accomplishment yesterday.  Here’s hoping one day we conquer this, too, and have a gay man or woman as president.

Madonna: It’s okay if you chose to go Madge’s concert last night rather than watch election results at home.  She kept the audience informed with choice lines like “this is a motherfucking important evening!.”

Taylor Swift: Used MySpace to call out ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas on his immature break-up tactic: doing it over the phone!  Ah, the trials and tribulations of young love in the age of the internet!

Michael Crichton: The Jurassic Park author died yesterday at age 66.  The death comes as a surprise, despite the Emmy winner’s battle with cancer.  He’s also responsible for the creation of ER.

The View: This was THEE post-election show to tune into.  Our award for best reaction goes to Sherri Shepherd.  Very emotional. Funniest reaction?  Whoopi predicting there will be lots of, um, whoopee in the White House!

It's back...on Broadway?

It's back...on Broadway?

Dirty Dancing: The play–yes, there’s a play–may come to Broadway after having success elsewhere in the U.S. and abroad.  We still think no one compares to the original baby (pun fully intended).

HSM: We’re seeing High School Musical tonight!  We’re seeing High School Musical tonight!  WE’RE SEEING HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL TONIGHT!  Can you tell we’re excited?

NYT: The New York Times had quite a scare yesterday after a “suspicious substance” came in the mail.  Though the lobby was temporarily closed and some people “decontaminated,” an investigation concluded the powder was not actually hazardous.  But if it’s the media that keeps on being targeted, we’re kind of scared for our future.

Magazines: The no-brainer cover this week was the Madonna-Guy Richie divorce.  Too bad that means none of them have any originality.  But which one will sell the most?

Usher: Will be the only one to perform on this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.  Lucky for him?  Bad for ratings?

TV Fashion: Some critics are questioning if TV shows–particularly teen dramas–are doing us any favors by promoting expensive lifestyles that are, in reality, largely out of reach given the state of the economy.  But isn’t that part of the point of escapism? Why focus on what we don’t have when we can spend 60 minutes losing ourselves in what others do?  It can be quite fun.

Angelina: Told Vanity Fair now that she has 6 kids, she might stop making movies.  No big loss there.  Another gem from the interview: the kiddies are starting to ask why mom and dad aren’t married.  Yep, such a great example they’re setting.

Nelly: How about this for a new type of boy band: Nelly, T-Pain, Akon and Pharrell.  Nelly says it’s in the works.  We say we could do without.

Ed Norton: With rumors of a Fight Club musical, Norton brings up one important point: “Brad can’t sing.”  Ouch.

SIZZLED OUT: Ciara

STILL SIZZLING: Which actor will have two-and-a-half boys of his own soon?  His wife is having twins!

Guess they won't be doing THAT anymore!

Guess they won't be doing THAT anymore!

Madonna: So it’s true.  Their reps have released a joint statement.  Divorce will proceed.  Settlement not yet reached.  What we want to know: so did she really have an affair with A-Rod?

Rolling Stone: The over-sized mag is going on a diet.  Starting with the Oct. 30th issue, the magazine will appear just like all the other glossy mags out there.  They save money, we get more pages.  Good for everyone?

Janet Jackson: Her rep is saying the mysterious illness was a case of bad migraines.  Um, okay.

DWTS: Cloris Leachman, 82, is still in the competition.  We still think this can only end badly.

AMA: Among the nominees for the American Music Awards: Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Lil’ Wayne and Taylor Swift.  Jimmy Kimmel will host for the 5th time.  Guess people aren’t sick of him.

Beyonce: Will be giving fans a multiple choice with her new album: a 17-track double disc or an 11-song version.  Smart economical move?

A little less time, a little more music, please.

A little less time, a little more music, please.

Madonna: Reports are swirling this morning that Madonna and Guy will announce the divorce that has been rumored for so long.  Her rep declined comment–perhaps that means an official statement this afternoon?  Check back later today for part 2!

Joe Manganiello: The actor–who plays Owen on One Tree Hill–has a legit Facebook profile.  No shit.

James Van der Beek: The return of Dawson?  Sort of.  One Tree Hill creator, Mark Schwahn, has confirmed that the teen soap veteran will guest-star on a November ep, as a filmmaker.  Kind of like Dawson, no?

Tim McGraw: He’s “embarrassed” that his record label put out another greatest hits album instead of new music.  After all, he’s had THREE compilations out in the last 2 years.  Time for new music is right!

Iron Man 2: Don Cheadle will be taking over Terrence Howard’s role.  We don’t really know what that means considering we never saw Iron Man in the first place.

Matthew Perry: Showtime is making a show starring the former friend but we’re more excited to see him in 17 Again with Zac Efron!

Gossip Girl: Yalies are quite upset with their portrayal in Monday’s episode.  Pretentious much?

TV Guide: The struggling mag has been sold to a private equity company.  No word yet on what that means exactly for the magazine but hopefully it’ll stay around long enough for us to work there!

Fall Out Boy: New album pushed back to DECEMBER?! Blame the election.

SIZZLED OUT: Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady)

STILL SIZZLING: If rumors of a funeral are true, New York City may get a little less crowded on this TV show.

We actually love the leggings AND the hair. Good goin', Linds.

We actually love the leggings AND the hair.

DJ AM: Will make his first post-crash DJ appearance tomorrow with  Jay-Z.  Good for him!

90210: Ratings from DVRs significantly boosted the show’s viewership.  The downside?  It means no one cares to watch the show the first time around.  Can’t say we blame them.

Justin Timberlake: JT is in a election-state-of-mind.  He attended an Obama rally and performed…wait for it…VOTE IN A BOX!

Blake Lively: Also apparently an Obama fan, as is boyfriend Penn Badgley.  The two star in ad set to run on the CW, MTV and Comedy Central.  Do celebs really influence how a person votes??

Lindsay Lohan: Launched her leggings line.  Yes, leggings.  And named after none other than Marilyn Monroe.

Madonna: Is it cool to wear part-shoe, part-gun on your feet?  The Madge apparently thinks so.
