With a body like that, no wonder he was marathon-ready!

With a body like that, no wonder he was marathon-ready!

SNL: Their HSM and The View spoofs were pretty funny.  John McCain–not so much.

FNCU: We thought this was a joke.  It’s not.  You can apply to Fox News Channel University.  Don’t get too alarmed, though–it’s just an internship program.

Ryan Reynolds: Completed the New York City Marathon on behalf of “those who can’t,” namely sufferers of Parkinson’s Disease, something very near and dear to our hearts.

Nelly: Finally admitting to a years-long relationship with Ashanti.  The key to their relationship?  Having fun.  Ha!  If only it were that easy!

November Sweeps: It’s just about here!  Things to look forward to: Oprah on 30 Rock, Rosie’s variety show, the 24 movie and much more!  Woot woot!

The CW: Since the network seems fixated on remakes these days, some are calling for a Saved By The Bell spin-off.  We wouldn’t complain.  Or would we?

Def Jam: The executive vice president was found dead Saturday in an apparent suicide.  The exec, Jay-Z’s successor, was responsible for artists like Beyonce, Ciara and Young Jeezy throughout his career in the music business.  We’ve been saying it a lot lately and we’ll say it once more: too much death.

SIZZLED OUT: Simon Cowell

STILL SIZZLING: Which political pundit, spoofed on SNL this weekend, decided to crash the rehearsal just to see how Ben Affleck would depict him?

Rockin' out and looking pretty while doing it!

Rockin' out and looking pretty while doing it!

David Cook: Our favorite Idol EVER will be performing on SNL tomorrow night.  Meeting him last spring will forever rank as one of our all-time best days.

John McCain: Stealing Cook’s thunder and also appearing on SNL.  Psht.

Shanna Moakler: Travis Barker’s ex has given her first interview since finding out about his plane crash.  Last time she spoke, though, Travis said not to believe her.  So what will it be this time?  Fact or fiction?

Melrose Place: Despite persistent rumors, if the remake happens, it probably won’t be aided by current mega-creators Mark Schwahn (One Tree Hill) and Josh Schwartz (The O.C., Gossip Girl).  And thank god.  We want a seventh season of OTH, not a rehashing of a show that wasn’t very good to begin with.

Spider-Man 4: The flick, set to be released in 2011, has found itself a writer.  A Pulitizer award-winning, Julliard-trained one at that.  But we have to wonder: why are movies from the same series being written by different people?  What ever happened to consistency?

Newsday: Our hometown newspaper appears to be the latest victim of the revived Anthrax hoax.  Really, people, this is SO not funny.

Hugh Hefner: In a new biography–aptly titled Mr. Playboy–the media mogul’s life is given the up-close-and-personal treatment.  Silly us, we thought that’s been done before.  Many, many times before.

Our chances of working for one of these mags are disappearing by the day.

Our chances of working for one of these mags are disappearing by the day. Sigh.

Tina Fey: Is Bristol Palin her newest babysitter?  The offer has been made by Mrs. Palin.  Fey’s response: “I was like, yeah, that’s exactly what 17-year-old Bristol Palin wants to do, at ‘SNL,’ is babysit the toddler of the lady that goofs on her mom.”  We’re just wondering if Bristol will even want to babysit her own toddler.

Redemption Song: American Idol for boozies, strippers and cons.  We kid you not.  Gotta love Fuse.

Obama: Pundits across America are weighing in on last night’s last-ditch effort by Obama to secure American’s vote.  But what about all the people that already voted through absemtee and early ballots?  Lost causes?

Phillies: MLB champs.  Notice how we didn’t say World Series champs.  Semantics, really, but how can you win a world championship when the whole world doesn’t have the opportunity to play?  The MLB is only in America, folks!

Jennifer Hudson: As expected, all the entertainment/gossip mags have Hudson-focused covers.  Curious to see how they sell and which one does the best.

Time Inc.: Laying off up to 600 staffers in the coming weeks.  Now how will we ever get a job there?!

TiVo: Got TiVo?  Now you got Netflix, too.  The two have married.  Applause all around.  Except for us.  We still don’t have TiVo.  Or Netflix.

SIZZLED OUT: Melrose Place

STILL SIZZLING: Which actor has walked the line for the final time?  He’s retiring at age 34!

Goodbye Tina, hello baby!

Goodbye Tina, hello baby!

Amy Poehler: Expect her to be out of SNL for a while.  She gave birth yesterday to a little comedian.

Jennnifer Hudson:
Used her MySpace blog to thank her fans for their support and well-wishes.  Also made a heartfelt plea for the return of her still-missing nephew.

Obama: Sent condolences to Hudson and family.  Publicity stunt or heartfelt concern for a fellow Chicagoan?

Anne Pressly: The Arkansas news anchor was severely beaten in a botched burglary last week.  She has since died of her injuries.  Too much death lately.  Let’s hope for a better November.

Anchorage Daily News: The major Alaskan newspaper has endorsed Obama.  That should tell you something.

Denis Leary: Not too long ago we told you Leary was having a war of words about autism.  His new topic?  His right to say gay slurs.  We have a feeling he’s going to come out of this 0 for 2.

Gossip Girl: Turns out the cast has gotten in trouble for leaking spoilers.  Oh well.

SIZZLED OUT: Justin Timberlake/Jessica Biel

STILL SIZZLING: The exec of this cult show got so angry at fans’ comments about a recent episode that he just released a statement defending his creative decisions.

James Dean or James Franco?

James Dean or James Franco? Doesn't matter; we love them both!

Jeff Probst: Hosting a new show called Live Like You Were Dying.  Except the people really are dying.  That’s not, you know, sad, creepy or weird at all.

Gossip Girl: Meta quote of the episode: “Who watches TV on a TV anyway?”  Ah, the good ol’ days.

Sarah Palin: Are some conservatives only backing her because she’s hot?  Some people think so.

Nicole Richie: Quoted in PEOPLE: “I tell [babydaddy] Joel ‘Even when I’m really mad at you, I could never really hate you because you look like Harlow.”  Now that’s what love and long-lasting relationships are built on!

SNL: The show has experienced a resurgence as of late but what will happen when the election is over?

James Franco: We just watched him in James Dean–the movie, not the person–and now we’re kind of obsessed.  And then to find out how much he values education–he’s going for his masters–well, we just found our dreamboy!

SIZZLED OUT: Liz Smith

STILL SIZZLING: Which actor–who appeared in the closing minutes of the first film–will play a larger role in the Iron Man sequel?

Guess they won't be so close anymore.

Guess they won't be so close anymore.

Sarah Palin: Funny on SNL last night but funny doesn’t make a great vice president, does it?

Obama: Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has endorsed Obama, breaking party lines.  Surprising?

Obama Pt. 2: Also got three media endorsements last week–two of them also quite surprising.  This is the first time the LA Times and the Chicago Tribune have endorsed a Democrat!

Variety: Has a great article on the incestuous relationship between film and television.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got a surprise full-season pickup.  The bad news: It means Brian Austin Green will still be too busy for a 90210 cameo!

Spamalot: Even Clay Aiken couldn’t save it.  The show will close in January.

SIZZLED OUT: Mad Men

STILL SIZZLING: Which celeb–who was shortchanged in her father’s will not too long ago–is selling her home for nearly 2.4 million?

He may have a perpetual scowl but he's using his new book to tell us why.

He may have a perpetual scowl but he's using his new book to tell us why.

Sarah Palin: Will be making her long-awaited appearance on SNL tonight.  Great for ratings.

Eminem: From the memoir we told you about yesterday: “If you go back and look at the abuse that I took, it’s no surprise I became who I am.”  We’re just curious to know who he is today.

TV: How dumb are thee?  Let us count the ways.

Grammy Awards: There will actually be a nomination special on two months before the big event.  Considering how down ratings have been for awards shows lately, we don’t really understand this move.  Who wants low ratings twice?

Lost: The show is ending!  In 2010…

SIZZLED OUT: Jenny McCarthy and Denis Leary

STILL SIZZLING: This show is coming back for a third season, possibly without its creator.  Too bad we don’t watch it.
